Derek Charles Vaux T901 Started 25 April 1949. Passed away in the Leicester Royal Infermary on 7th September 2024 aged 90, his widow Mary was a Telephonist at Free Lane Exchange and kept records of ex Telephonists many who met and later married Messengers.

Hi All, I have been informed that R F Johnson (Frank) passed away at Market Harborough Hospital on Thursday 21st May 2021 following a long illness. Frank started as a Messenger in 1942 as T17, and rose through the ranks, finishing on The Leicester Board as Manager for Postal Operations from 1986 until his retirement.

It is one of those reports that it is both sad and a proud moment in reporting, the passing of our Senior Messenger, Fred Draycott he was 92 and will be remembered by a small number of colleagues from his days as a messenger. Many more will have known him in his years as a Postman Driver or at the end of his career working with his wife in Campbell Street as a Postal Assistant. It was a humorous and friendly team they made together even if it was hard to see Fred in a suit after many years in his uniform but the smiles were always the same. A service for Fred will be held at the Trinity Methodist Church Narborough Road Leicester at 10.15 on Tuesday 12th October 2010 followed by a short service at Gilrose Crematorium at 11.15.
